I’m Glad You’re Here!

Briefly.

That’s what 5 Minute Photos is all about. A bite-sized, tasty tip, insight, or observation about the amazing new world of photography. It’s the iPhone. The Apple Photos’ ecosystem. World class photo and video making available to everyone.

I love it.

The Photographer In Us All

Photography has become our second language. The way we bookmark life’s special moments. How we share our experiences with friends and family. Documenting the world around us.

But here’s the thing.

We learn a lot of skills growing up, but photography is rarely one of them. I’ve found that most people never thought much about photography until they got a mobile phone.

Maybe they just took some family shots on a disposable camera at holidays, or had a film SLR when it was fashionable. Compact digital cameras were better, but then there was downloading files to a computer, organizing the files, uploading, emailing, backing up somehow.

And you still had to have the camera with you.

It was a lot.

Mobile Photography IS Photography

The iPhone changed everything.

A decent camera in your iPhone.

A great display to view and edit on.

Built in photo organizing and sharing.

When iCloud syncing came along you no longer had to copy photos to your computer. A whole system - creation, photo management, and sharing - in one integrated system.

We are all photographers now.

Clear guidance to cut through the overwhelm

What four-and-a-half years at Apple taught me is that people love photography but are often overwhelmed by the technology. A simple tip or a few minutes of hand-holding can get them from uncertain to ecstatic.

That’s why I launched 5 Minute Photos.

  • Engaging, easy-to-understand tips and techniques.

  • Real life explanations that inform and entertain.

  • Short enough to read anywhere.

  • Long enough to understand.

  • Interesting enough to remember.

Photography has become a part of our modern lifestyle. I want you to love both the photos and the experience of creating them.

In 5 minutes or less.

Who I am.

I wear a lot of hats.

For more than a decade I’ve helped people enjoy their photography experience. I’ve learned how photos connect us and preserve the comfort of a familiar face, a special moment, and help us keep track of this crazy, wonderful, surprising journey of ours called life. My mission is to help everyone master the technology and the process to use their pictures and keep them safe

Long before that I was in the printing industry and helped hundreds of clients navigate the transition to desktop publishing and digital photography. Setting up software and Macs. Working out production workflows. Storing and organizing digital photos. The whole thing.

My time at Apple was life-changing. Working with thousands of customers. Seeing the technology and processes downsized and made accessible to everyone. Teachers, mothers, travelers, photographers, businesspeople, kids. Photos, video, music and voice. It was a creative melting pot and inspired me to start my own business making these mediums as user-friendly and empowering as I could.

I’m glad you’re here, too.

How can I help?
